The Patient Supplies Platelets.

Alocuro Device & Protocol Determine Platelet Recovery & Dose.

Alocuro PRP systems have been independently verified by Australian pathology laboratories to achieve average platelet recovery rates of 90% for 10-30ml devices and 85% for 60ml devices.

While platelet recovery can be measured and validated, the final platelet dose delivered is largely determined by the patient's baseline platelet count, which can vary considerably between individuals due to age, general health and metabolic factors. For this reason, no PRP system can guarantee the same platelet dose for every patient, as every PRP device & system can only recover platelets available within the patient's blood sample.

Alocuro system provides a reproducible platelet recovery % and an efficient platelet concentration protocol, allowing clinicians to accurately estimate the platelet dose being delivered, to reduce procedural variability. This is particularly important when evaluating treatment outcomes, to help distinguish whether a patient's response is related to the underlying pathology, patient-specific factors, or the biologic treatment itself.

By maximising platelet recovery and providing predictable platelet dosing, Alocuro supports a more precise, evidence-informed approach to PRP therapy and helps clinicians optimise treatment protocols across a wide range of clinical indications.

Alocuro PRP Platelet Dose Calculator

Estimate platelet dose based on patient’s baseline platelet count, selected Alocuro device size, and anticoagulated blood volume.

Enter platelets per µL. Typical adult range is 150,000 to 450,000 platelets/µL.

Device volume describes the anticoagulated blood volume being processed.
Alocuro PRP protocol uses 90% whole blood + 10% anticoagulant.
For example, a 30 mL device contains 27 mL whole blood + 3 mL anticoagulant.

Collection efficiency: 90%

Alocuro has 85-90% platelet collection efficiency, which is third-party pathology lab verified. This recovery rate is applied to an estimated platelet number from the whole blood volume.

Whole blood volume for estimated platelet dose

+ 10% anticoagulant

Based on a baseline platelet count of 250,000 platelets/µL and a 20 mL device, the calculator allows for 18 mL whole blood and 2 mL anticoagulant.

At 90% collection efficiency, the estimated platelet dose is 4.05 billion platelets.

This calculator provides estimates only. Device volume is calculated using Alocuro anticoagulant ratio of 90% whole blood + 10% anticoagulant, so available platelet number is estimated from whole blood, before applying the appropriate collection efficiency. Actual PRP platelet dose at the time of procedure may vary based on patient-specific factors, sample handling and clinical preparation technique. It should not be interpreted as a guaranteed platelet dose.
